The Technical University of Crete acquired Specisoft’s “BGAME – Competitiveness Business Game” software to support its Innovation and Entrepreneurship courses. The software belongs to the category of serious games, as scientifically defined.
“BGAME – Competitiveness Business Game” is a business simulator in which students take over the running of a company and make business decisions on developing new products, marketing actions, entering new markets, managing human and other resources, taking out loans etc. With this Specisoft software they can develop students’ business skills by simulating the real operations of a company. With this simulation technique, students will hold an initial capital and will create and run their own company for a number of years.
Many parameters define the framework of the competitive Market and are set by the supervising teacher, so that any competitive market is adequately described in the way the teacher wishes. The decisions of the student-managers include, among others: Decisions on Selling prices, Advertising, Credit to customers, investment in technology, financing etc., and decisions on creating a production unit, purchasing materials etc. They can also choose only to trade, buying the products rather than producing them. While the program is running, the students will make their decisions, which will be sent automatically to the teacher over the local network or the Internet.
The printouts produced by Specisoft’s “BGAME – Competitiveness Business Game” are: Production materials, Production cost, Cost of goods sold, Income statement, Balance Sheet, Book Value of the share, Cash Flow, Loan tables, depreciation etc.
The software comes with sample games.
