BGAME Software

The BGAME – Business Game software is a business game used to provide high-level training services, mainly in postgraduate programmes. It simulates the competitive market in which the “managers – players” operate.

Brief Description:

The software consists of two separate programs:

  • The supervising teacher's software
  • The students' software

A) The supervising teacher's software

The teacher can define many business games and markets (e.g. a consumer product market, a car market etc.) with their individual characteristics. The parameters the supervising teacher can set include (among others):

  • Forecasts of the development of sales in the given competitive market
  • The operating framework of the competitive market, such as average prices, average advertising etc.
  • Parameters of market response to price, advertising, technology and credit to customers
  • Parameters that determine other market figures, such as the inelastic part of sales, theoretical size and other determining data
  • Parameters of Investment in a production unit (cost, depreciation)
  • Production cost data (Materials, Labour, inventory holding cost etc.)
  • Financial data (Interest rates on long-term and short-term loans etc.)
  • Definition of the scoring system by the teacher, with options
  • All the market parameters can be changed during the game. Indicatively: Changes in interest rates, labour costs etc.
  • Printouts that include the players' decisions, their market shares, their financial figures (Income Statements, Balance Sheets, Cash Flow etc.) and their score

The teacher’s software allows the teacher to intervene in any way in the decisions of the manager-players, such as changing a player’s decisions in an advisory capacity. The teacher can even play as a player too

B) The students' software includes (among others):

  • Decisions on Selling prices, Advertising, Credit to customers, investment in technology etc.
  • Decisions on creating a production unit, purchasing materials etc. They can also trade, buying the products instead of producing them
  • Financing decisions (long-term and short-term borrowing)
  • Printouts showing Production materials, Production cost, Cost of goods sold, Income statement, Balance Sheet, Book Value of the share, Cash Flow, Loan tables, depreciation etc.

While the program is running, the students make their decisions, which are sent automatically to the teacher over the local network or the Internet; the calculations are done there, the results are returned automatically to the students and a new period – a virtual year – begins, for as many years as the teacher sets, and the final score is produced.
